Become a Student Volunteer
The Trenton Youth Orchestra would not be what it is today without the hard work and dedication of its student volunteers. If you are a student at Princeton University or a nearby college (e.g., The College of New Jersey or Rider University) who would like to volunteer for TYO, you can do so in one of two roles:
1) Private Teacher (lower commitment): Being a private teacher entails giving private lessons, every Saturday from 12 PM to 1 PM, to one TYO member.
2) Coach (higher commitment): Being a coach entails attending every other rehearsal (Saturdays from 10 AM to 12 PM), leading in-rehearsal sectionals, performing with the orchestra during concerts, and giving private lessons to one TYO member.
We are currently seeking volunteers who play violin and cello. Some prior teaching experience is recommended but not necessary, although extensive experience with and knowledge of your instrument is required.

Perform for TYO
We try to expose members of the Trenton Youth Orchestra to different styles, genres, and methods of musical performance so that they can realize the true potential of their musicality. If you are a student musician or a member of a student music group at Princeton University who would like to perform for TYO, you can do so in one of two ways:
1) Give a guest performance: Stop by one of our rehearsals and perform something for us! The recommended length is 5-10 minutes, and you can choose between performing at 10:10 AM or 11:40 AM. Afterwards, TYO members will engage in a brief Q&A with you. Expect lots of questions!
2) Invite us to one of your concerts: We love taking TYO on field trips to watch Princeton students perform! If you are organizing a performance you think we would enjoy, please let us know. We guarantee TYO will be the loudest applauders in the audience!
We welcome performers of all different kinds--jazz or classical, opera or Broadway musical, solo pianists or acapella groups.
